Adventure Travel

To each of us this means something different, but we all want to get away from time to time. To me adventure travel is being far off the beaten path, exploring, sometimes feeling the way as I go. But, then reality sets in and one must count their blessings and return to the known, found, safe havens of society.

Our trip, the second time leaving Stung Treng, was to the next destination of Siem Reip. Along the way we did find a quiet road, secondary and avoided most traffic. We made the way by bus to Kratie 140 km. And then by bicycle 350 km to Siem Reip and Angkor Wat. Making a push to get there in three days this reminded me of an adventure race where the director was gaping two beautiful areas with a mammoth ride Fortunately the terrain is flat and pushing 25 km/hr is not to much of a chore.

Again in the country side we found farming and fishing. This time, most interesting was the operation of a brick production, those used for building homes. And the beloved friendly people of Cambodia that I shall never forget.

During the trip we have met a few others on bike. For those inclined check out their blogs. We had travelled together in Laos, around Nov 19, and crossed paths in Cambodia again.
